NEW DATES - To Be Advised
This tour has been carefully planned to give you the most magical winter experience in Northern Finland - based on Lake Inari - home to the Sami Parliament.
This remote part of Finland is one of the key places to view the Aurora Borealis - aka The Northern Lights and we have chosen 4 nights of your stay in an Aurora Cabin to view this natural spectacle. Each cabin has twin beds, an ensuite bathroom and a sofa - PLUS an amazing view to the sky!! Each cabin is laser heated so you can be all snug and warm - tucked up in your bed as you wait for the Aurora Borealis to make its appearance.
The northern lights are a natural spectacle and as such there is no guarantee that they will make an appearance. However, when they do, you will be ready and this accommodation and trip give you the very best chance of spotting them.
This trip is a 4 night / 5 day Experience. 4 nights in an Aurora cabin at the Wilderness Hotel Inari
Breakfast / dinner is included and taken in the hotel. 2 light lunches are also included.
The day gives you the chance to try some real winter activities - for example, Snowmobiling, a visit to a husky farm, ice fishing and an evening spent at an aurora camp around the fire - again another great opportunity to view the Northern Lights.
Thermal suits are provided throughout this trip which we pick up on arrival at the resort. This kit includes a balaclava, beanie, scarf, winter boots and a thermal suit - to fit all shapes and sizes!!
The resort - although remote - is 35 kms from Ivalo airport and all transfers are included.
This trip really is an 'experience' not to be missed. And definitely one to tick off your bucket list!!
Please ensure your holiday insurance includes covers you for winter sports activities.
It is your responsibility to take out adequate travel insurance.
Winter thermal suits are provided on arrival in Ivalo for your use during your stay.
Thermals are a good idea to go under the suit.
Hats / scarves / gloves / boots are all provided.
What you might like to take - a torch and
heated hand warmers - never a bad idea in cold weather.
January temperatures - a dry cold!
day time - expect average -10 deg c
night time - expect average -19 deg c
Hotel / cabins will be warm - so dress in layers.
Firstly, and of course stating the obvious - this trip is to a cold climate!! But it's a dry cold.... not like the wet, slushy cold we have in the UK.
Day time temperatures - expect average -10 deg C in January and night time temperatures around -19 deg c on average.
You will be kitted out with a thermal suit - scarf, boots, gloves, hat etc.
But you will need to bring some thermals with you to go underneath. Dress in layers is the key.
You will need to hold a UK driving licence should you wish to drive a snowmobile and be over the age of 18.
The snowmobiles are hired from the Wilderness Hotel in Inari.
If you don't wish to hire / drive a snowmobile yourself, then why not ride in a sled. All organised by the hotel.
There is no such thing as bad weather - just the wrong clothing and we aim to have you all kitted out and ready to enjoy this Arctic wilderness.
